Exclusive! Kangana Ranaut's childhood BFFs spill the secrets on the 'Queen' actress and it includes late-night make-up sessions and going on blind dates

It is raining throwback pictures on social media. What better time to revisit fond memories than this lockdown. Recently, we got an adorable glimpse into the hostel days of none other than Kangana Ranaut. Labelled as ‘True Nostalgia’, Kangana’s fan-club on social media shared some heartwarming pictures of the actress from her school and hostel days with her best friends Bondina Elangbam and Ranita Ahanthem. Needless to say, it was an absolute treat.
ETimes exclusively got in touch with her BFFS Bondini and Ranita and spoke to them about their friendship with the actress, their hostel stories, and even got a sneak peek into Kangana’s life before her stardom and the story we got is definitely worth sharing with her fans.

Kangana, Bondina, and Ranita met each other for the first time in 2001 at D.A V College in Chandigarh where they all came from different parts of the country for studies. While Kangana bonded with Bondina over arts, Ranita and Kangana were in the same class as they both opted for the medical stream.

The trio got together for the last reunion at their college in Chandigarh in 2015. Reminiscing their hostel days, Ranita said, ‘We used to have late-night make-up and acting sessions. We also used to have group study sessions. All these will be special moments of our lives and I will always cherish those memories with her and my friends.”
Bondina, on the other hand, went on to reveal about their wildest adventure and it included a blind-date! She revealed, “The wildest thing was to go on a blind date on our outing day and run away after seeing the guy. We were quite innocent, we hardly talked about boys or had any boyfriends back then. It was a one-time incident and hilarious.”

When asked if Kangana always wanted to be an actress, Bondina said, “Kangana never talked about acting. Her parents wanted her to become a doctor but she had other plans back then. She wanted to become Miss India. I remember telling her once to act in a movie if a big banner offers her a movie, and her reply was "tab dekhungi" with a smile.”

Elaborating further, she added, “Kangana is a born artist, during our exam preparation days sometime during tea break or late night studies she would make us all laugh with her acting. The drunkard scene she did in ‘Gangster’ movie is the acting that we've seen during our hostel days so we all knew she has good acting skills.”
“One day I got a call saying that she had got into a movie in Bollywood. I was so happy and proud of her that she got what she wanted amid all the struggles,” added Ranita.

Bondina revealed that Kangana is an ultimate foodie! Citing an example of the same, she said, “I remember every Sunday we got rajma chawal in our hostel mess and we would stuff extra rice and rajma in our tiny tiffins and bring it to our rooms, sometimes even in our coffee mugs. And whenever we go for outings it has to be food. Also, whenever my mother sends fried fish from home we would eat inside our room since ours was an Aryan Samaj school, and non-veg weren’t allowed in our hostel mess. She would also bring chicken biryani cooked by her papa, it was yummy. I still crave for it now.”

Known for being outspoken and honest Kangana doesn’t mince her words. Was she the same during her student days? “She is a straightforward and honest girl and that’s the beauty of Kangana. She has always been that way since the first time I met her. And if you need honest feedback or real advice she's the go-to person”, reveals Bondina.
For all those who do not know her real personality, Ranita said, “Kangana is very down-to-earth, caring, and makes everyone around her comfortable.”
Ask them their favourite Kangana movie and they both chirped, ‘Gangster’. Lastly, we asked the BFFs if they could dedicate one song for Kangana, what would it be. While Bondina said, “‘Kiska chehra ab mein dekhoon’ would be the song for her. We used to listen to all kinds of Ghazals together in the hostel, sometimes she used to sing for me. I would dedicate ‘Yeh Dosti hum nahi todenge’ song for our friendship.”

As far as the topic of boys are concerned, Bondina reveals that Kangana has never had crush on anyone. According to her she has always been determined and focused in her life. When asked if they advice her to settle down in life, she added, "Kangana knows when to settle down in life, there's no rush, and definitely not someone from the industry."
“One song that describes my friendship with Kangana will be ‘Jaane Kyun’ from Dostana”, Ranita adds.
Before concluding, we asked the duo if they had any message to give for all those who troll Kangana on social media. While Ranita said haters are going to hate no matter what, Bondina signed off saying, Kangana loves you all!
